Taverna Akumal is well located among the trees, meters away both from the beach and the town entrance. The charm can be felt since you step in. The lovely staff welcomes you as soon as you approach to see the menu at the entrance.
The manager, Alejandra, helped me decide what to eat, since I am not very into italian food. She is very attentive and kind, and she's willing to serve clients in spanish, english or italian. She suggested me to have the avocado fries, which are the best thing I've tried in years! As well, the octopus salad is amazing. I used to say I didn't like octupus, until I tried this salad.
As main course, I would highly recommend the bolognesa gnocchi (I am a bolognesa lover), but also the carbonara and Alfredo are awesome. The manager shared with me that 90% of the pasta is home-made, right there at the place.
At every italian restaurant I go, I always ask for panna cotta or tiramisu as dessert, but this time, the manager encouraged me to try as well the chocolate mousse, which was really special, since is sweet with a slight touch of spice (just as the mayans and aztecs used to eat chocolate). Of course, I had panna cotta as well, which they serve with tropical fruits, totally different to the ones I tried before.
The food couldn't be more italian, since the Execituve Chef, Leo, is from Italy. He not only gives his italian touch to the menu, but also to the entire ambience of the place. I was there during the moment he received the fish catch of the day, and he took the time to show me some of the fishes and to explain me how each fish is cooked and what dishes are prepared from them.
Akumal is one of the best hidden jewels of the Mayan Riviera, and if you are lucky to be there, the Taverna Akumal is the perfect choice to eat. I can't wait to be back! Thank you Alejandra and Leo for the experience!
A truly memorable experience all three times we ate there last week. We were a party of 8: 4 adults and 4 teenagers. The adults had a table and the teens had their own table. The service was attentive and impeccable at each of our tables. Food was lovely: fresh, lightly dressed crunchy salads, delicious homemade pastas and yummy thin-crust pizzas from their wood-fired oven. Great wine list and desserts also not to be missed (esp. the espresso creme brulee, still dreaming about it!)
The only slight hiccup is the very loud music that they play which makes it hard to have a conversation. To their credit, they immediately turned it down when we asked them to. Their clientele is mostly middle-aged to older folks, so I'm not sure it is necessary to create a nightclub-like atmosphere. In truth, they were very accommodating about it and we kept coming back during the week we spent in Akumal. Highly highly recommend it! Go and you will have a wonderful dining experience.
Probablemente la mejor pizza que comí en mi vida, regresamos al siguiente día porque estaba exquisita. Los ravioles también estaban deliciosos y nos trajeron un aceite picante súper bueno. ¡Felicitaciones!

Excelente lugar para cenar en Akumal! Fuimos un miércoles y había un saxofonista que armonizaba el lugar perfecto. Muy lleno y aun así el servicio estuvo excepcional, la comida en tiempo y todo delicioso. Pedí una lasaña, 10 de 10, igual hubo varios platillos al centro, las pizzas muy ricas, pasta delgada y casera, y para cerrar postres clásicos como crème brûlée y tiramisu 👌. Tienen algunos cocktails de la casa interesantes, los clásicos y una buena variedad de vinos. Muy buena opción para cena en familia o amigos.
Llevamos muchos años siendo clientes de la Taverna, el lugar es fantástico un ambiente agradable, comida deliciosa y servicio impecable
Tanto el menú regular como los especiales (navidad, Año Nuevo , acción de Gracias, etc ) son fabulosos
Las pastas y pizzas son imperdibles y el mezcal mule es obligatorio

Un sitio acogedor para ir a cenar. Hemos cenado ahí y ha sido una grata experiencia, todo exquisito, sabroso y sin mucho mas que desear. Personal atento, servicio rápido, cervezas frías y cada plato que probamos estaba demasiado bueno.

Acabo de salir de lugar y no he perdido tiempo en hacer mi reseña, me ha gustado mucho.
Fui con la familia. Los niños pidieron pizza y les encanto. Yo pedí un pescado que estaba riquísimo 😍👌 nada más las papas que lo acompañan estaban muy secas. No le tome foto al postre pero te recomiendo el Creme Brulee. Muy buen servicio.

El lugar me encanto, vibra playera, italiana y super familiar! La comida super autentica italiana y deliciosa! Pedimos focaccia, calamares y camarones fritos y el risotto frutti di mari, los fines de semana hay especialidades del chef, tambien puedes pedir cierta salsa y cambiar el tipo de pasta!

Gran descubrimiento. Tiempo de espera correcto. Pizza especial del día con Gambas, Tomate seco, queso, pesto y demás riquísima, nos encantó. De segundo mi pareja pidió Raviolis de verdura (Normalillos) y yo Frutti de Mare, que sabía bastante a Marisco (lleva gambas, mejillón, calamar..) pero ni rastro del jiltomate picante que dicen que lleva.
Camarero encantador, ofreciendonos queso y pimienta, además de ser muy educado.
Se merecería 4 estrellas porque los segundos no estuvieron a la altura de la Pizza, no obstante daré 5 porque sale muy bien de precio (2 cocacolas zero de 350 ml más la pizza y los dos segundos 20€ por persona) y para los frikis del móvil como yo el Wifi iba como un tiro (algo inusual en toda la Riviera Maya).
Excelente lugar para ir a comer o almorzar. Muy buen servicio, comida italiana exquisita y a un precio razonable. Una comida para dos personas con alcohol incluido está cerca de los $600 MX + Propina. Recomiendo los Ravioli! Y Tiramisú
Es la tercera vez que vengo y siempre comimos delicioso. El servicio fue excelente y el ambiente y el lugar es muy agradable. También muy atentos en tener un detalle con nosotros por nuestro aniversario que decidimos festejar acá. Súper recomiendo !
